
Our story
Antonino Piscitello Ceramiche is a long-established company, founded in S. Stefano di Camastra (Sicily) in 1683, a small town located in Sicily also known as ”Il paese delle ceramiche” (The ceramics town). Antonio Piscitello, with his family is the only family of ceramic producer active for over 326 years.
Indeed, the history of the Piscitellos, has its roots in Naples, which in the 17th century represented one of the most prestigious center of ceramic tiles production of the Kingdom. During that period, the Piscitello’s family established one of the most significant company of majolica tiles in the land of Sicily, and then then in Bourbon Kingdom.
Antonino in one of the most famous and recognized Italian Ceramic’s Maestro, an award-winning artist who has collected great success in fairs and exhibitions in Italy as well as in London, Munich, Milan, Florence, Paris, New York and Chicago. In 2006, Antonino Piscitello was declared a “Living Human Treasure” and has been entered in the “Intangible Cultural Heritage” list of UNESCO in Sicily.
Today the company is an icon of Italian Mediterranean style that features handcrafted ceramics with bold color accents and unique patterns. The cobalt-blue flower with three petals is one of the leitmotifs that distinguishes their tableware and artistic pottery collections all over the world.
The Founder
Antonino Piscitello, widely regarded as one of the most innovative and first ceramist of S. Stefano di Camastra, was honored with a gold medal and a diploma of merit by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Crafts. This marked the first time such a prestigious award was given to an artisan in Sicily. Beyond being a personal achievement, it represented a significant recognition of the town’s artisan ceramic tradition. Through Antonino Piscitello’s work, this tradition gained international acclaim, bringing both renown and economic growth to the entire community.



Historical Legacy and Artistic Excellence
The Piscitello family’s ceramic craftsmanship dates back to the 17th century in Naples and became integral to Sicily’s cultural and artistic history. Their maiolica tiles adorned noble residences and churches, establishing their reputation as leaders in ceramic artistry.
Innovation and International Recognition
Antonino Piscitello elevated Sicilian ceramics to an international level by combining traditional methods with modern innovations. Collaborating with renowned artists, the factory gained acclaim in global markets and exhibitions, including gold medals at prestigious fairs like the Florence International Artisan Fair in 1969.

Recognized as a “Living Human Treasure” by UNESCO in 2006, Antonino Piscitello and his factory have received numerous accolades, including medals and honors from regional and international organizations. Their work is celebrated as a cornerstone of Sicilian artistic heritage in publications and museums worldwide.
